Sigma Power Select II sharpening stones are used for sharpening knives on Hapstone sharpening systems.

All Sigma Power Select II stones have a thickness of 5 mm and are mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks. The stones from the Sigma Select II series stand out with unique features, making them exceptional among other Japanese water sharpening stones. The abrasive particles of the Sigma Select II stones are not bound by traditional synthetic binders (such as organic or magnesia), but are instead secured by thermal bonding. In essence, the Sigma Select II stones, similar to natural stones, do not contain binders in the classical sense.

    Field of application

Select II is a premium-class series of sharpening stones from Sigma Power. They are versatile but designed for sharpening the toughest steels. Select II stones are made of aluminum oxide abrasive with a minimal binder of high hardness.

This results in a significant advantage compared to stones with regular binders in the number of cutting edges per unit of the working surface, consequently enhancing the abrasive capacity and efficiency of the stone. Additionally, the abrasive in Sigma Select II stones has a complex composition, including elements of natural minerals and a synthetic component based on alumina-zirconia. While this makes the production process more expensive, it provides a response when working with Sigma Select II stones that is maximally close to Japanese natural stones, allowing for the processing of even the hardest steels.
