Hi,
I have been sharpening knives freehand for quite some time, but I could never consistently achieve those truly hair-popping sharp edges. That’s one of the reasons I decided to try the Hapstone T2.
I sharpened a MagnaCut blade that had a slightly dull edge. I started with the 2,000-grit stone, followed by 5,000 grit, and finished with a light strop on leather.
The result was superb—the edge came out shaving sharp. The entire sharpening process took no more than 10–12 minutes. The T2 holds the angle extremely well, and I was able to achieve a near perfect 20-degree edge with very little effort.
One small tip: just make sure you keep your hand clear of the tightening knob while sharpening.
I would also like to sincerely thank Mr. Mario Buryy at Hapstone. He was extremely helpful and responsive throughout our email correspondence and went out of his way to ensure that my shipment arrived on time.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Hapstone T2. It has made achieving a precise, consistent, and extremely sharp edge much easier than I could manage with freehand sharpening.

Same as other user. At first it was difficult to insert into the screw head, but after a few uses, there were no more problems.

It seems that the comment system doesn’t support replies to replies, so I’m posting this as a separate review.
Mario’s advice about airing out the case helped. After three days of leaving it open, with the foam section positioned to minimize contact with the surface (see the video), the smell has decreased significantly, even though this is an apartment rather than an open space with good air circulation. At this point, the smell is only noticeable up close.
It would be great if the manufacturer could air out the cases in a similar way before shipping them.
The video also shows my way of storing the hex keys. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated space for them.

Absolutely brilliant the R2!
Super easy to setup and use, i got into sharpening just a few months ago and i was freehand sharpening on bench stones then i had a wee hunting accident and had to go into surgery which made freehand impossible so i started looking at other options and a few guys on YouTube got me introduced to Hapstone and now i preach and praise Hapstone to anyone that will listen.

Vast improvement over stones included with affordable fixed angle sharpening system. Both faster and better consistency. Metal backing also seems to fit better into the holder.
Some things initially went wrong with delivery, because of DPD parcel service messing things up, but Mario at Hapstone responded very quickly to my messages and handled things perfectly. Big compliments to Hapstone customer service!
Edit: the review is mentions the 1000 grit, but the pictures are of the 150 grit. Regardless, the 150, 500 and 1000 grit are all great stones.

Silicon carbide powder Hapstone for leveling stones 100g (F120, 125/100 µm)
No complaints at all - works perfectly. After leveling, my Boride Ruby F150 and other stones of similar grit are in excellent condition. The surface comes out very even and consistent.

I decided to use this stone because my Kai Shin Classic 23 cm Damascus slicing knife (VG-10) had noticeable micro-chipping along the entire edge.
The 220 grit worked very efficiently - it only took about 4/5 passes to raise a burr and bring the edge back to a proper starting condition. I did continue with T2 stones afterward, but this review is specifically about the 220.

The Hastone R2 delivers very good sharpening results and works reliably overall. Unfortunately, a retaining ring from the linear ball bearing came loose during sharpening. The groove does not protrude far enough from the bearing block, preventing the ring from doing its job — an issue that should have been noticed during final assembly. Despite this flaw, the system remains powerful and convincing.

C'est un super ensemble que j'ai reçu !
C'est ma première vraie expérience en affûtage de couteaux et j'ai réussi à obtenir un tranchant rasoir/ miroir dès la première utilisation sur un grand couteau de cuisine (angle à 22,5°) !
Mes choix de pierres : un ensemble Boride T2 + fluides 1/2 et 0,25 micron sur cuir.
J'ai aménagé dans la sacoche 2 saignées pour y mettre les 2 clés Allen qui complètent le tournevis Allen 😉
Stratégie de serrage de la lame sur les mors des pinces : visser au contact la vis à tête triangulaire puis visser avec la vis sans tête : cela permet de serrer à plat sur l'angle de la lame.
Je suis ravi par l'ensemble et sa qualité !

I bought this as an upgrade for my WorkSharp Professional Precision Adjust, and it's definitely a big improvement over the original WorkSharp stone holder. It even fits in the WorkSharp storage position. While it doesn't lock in place quite as securely as the original holder, it stays in position well enough to keep it there while flipping the blade. Overall, a very worthwhile upgrade.

PDTools "Expert Pro" sharpening stones are very excellent.
For me, there's nothing better.
I can now sharpen any any steel hardness without any problems and achieve a professional-quality finish.
Be careful, though; the edge becomes so razor-sharp that it can be dangerous for your fingers.
It's an investment, but if you want quality, it's an excellent choice.
I don't regret my purchase.
My stones are:
120 to 500 grit: Hapstone CBN Start
800 grit: Hapstone CBN Premium
1500, 4000, 10000 grit: PDTools CBN "Expert Pro"
Hapstone Top Grain Premium Leather Finish (no polishing compound)
Don't forget to buy a smooth boride dressing stone to clean the stones after sharpening sessions.

This accessory isn't essential, but it greatly improves the stability of the sharpening angle. No more wobbling rod, the new column is securely attached to the support, and I can now be sure the angle is perfectly controlled.
The stop that allows you to hook the sharpening stone by flipping it over is also a very good idea. It also allows you to lubricate or clean the stone (with water or oil).
If I had one complaint, it would be that the new column reduces the angle of movement, which is inconvenient when flipping long knives like the one in the photo. But that's a minor point.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this upgrade.
One more thing: a big thank you for helping me resolve the delivery issue. It's much appreciated.

The case is well made and sturdy.
The insert is cut perfectly to hold my diamond stones safely as you see in the picture and it also holds thicker border stones perfectly.
I thoroughly recommend this case if you are looking for 6x1 stone storage.

I sharpen my knives to 10 dps by hand. When I want to change an angle of a knife, say from 20 deg to 15, to keep the new angle consistent, I wanted something like the H1 clamp.
I wanted to make the H1 myself from parts in nearby store but could not find bars with thinned ends to hold the knife. That would make problems at 10 dps. Then I found H1.
Pictured is a 400€ hand made asymmetrical 21 cm SG2 gyuto originally 20+10 dps which I recently redid by hand to 17+10 and then to 15+10 deg to suit my particular need for it. Picture shows it set for 10 deg sharpening. I also sharpened another 400€ SG2 and one Aogami Super 24cm, both at 10 dps. All my knives are tapered a lot.
To test H1, after some knife use, I just make some passes on 2000 and 4000 stones to maintain razor like sharpness. I simply threw a nylon sheet over the table cloth and slide H1 there nicely and quietly.
With LOTS of time and patience in tuning the screws, H1 results can be near perfect.
Minuses: on pictured thin glass stone and typical thin rubber holder, the H1 can not do 10 dps. I had to saw of few cm from both screws to have 8 to 20+ deg range. Nuts are poorly selected. The nuts toward the screw end are useless and in the way. Instead of plain nuts, H1 should have a lever nuts to enable easy tightening without tools. Tightening with the tools always changes angle slightly! The knife holding end of H1 does very well, but needs tools.
Due to imprecise nuts and impossibility to repeatably measure the angles with the angle cube, perfect repeatability using H1 and angle cube is impossible.
It takes a lot of time and effort to set H1 up exactly so using it on multiple knives and/or stones is very time consuming, but this is inherent to this simple design, not a fault, just a fact.
There are many pluses to the H1. The H1 is perfect to establish a new angle on a knife. Perfect for different angles on the same knife when needed. Using my hands only I can perfectly repeat an established edge angle which is important since H1 is not good for quick touchups.
It is perfect if you sharpen one side holding the handle with the right and another side holding the handle with the left hand. H1 is actually very comfortable when used like that.
Of course, the curved top third of the knife needs to be done by lifting the handle. The tip can be made perfect.
Who can sharpen by hand will immediately feel that the angle set on H1 is not perfect and will fix it. If you can not feel it, you may end up wondering why it does not work. It works, but if you set 0,2 deg lower angle, you will never reach the edge on fine stones. That problem is the same with all the fixed clamp sharping systems, and is actually much worse on all much more expensive guided systems.
H1 will help those who can not hold an angle well. Using a maker would be better than angle cube, but I do not want to mark white stones. Just hold the knife with normal two hand grip, as if H1 is not used.
Videos showing clamping knife at the middle and soulless pushing the knife across the stone holding it by the handle will damage the knife! EU delivery costing 11€ and taking 10 days is horribly expensive and slow.
